Hey Jersey City,
How’s everyone doing out there? Crazy times, huh?
I just wanted to pop in to give everyone an update on the Jersey City Tech Meetup given the uncertainty around the Coronavirus.
If you haven’t heard, all upcoming physical events have been postponed until things calm down out there. As much as the JCTM revolves around physical events and it saddens me to have to resort to this, we need to look out for the safety and health of our neighbors, and for the time being, that means staying home and avoiding large gatherings.
And let’s be honest – large gatherings are what we do best!
As a technology company, it’s important that we’re not strictly limited to physical events and have a space for us to get together, collaborate, and grow on a virtual basis. That’s why we’ve created the JCTM Community Group, where we can get together virtually and do exactly that.
We’re also planning virtual events and more sweet online content to continue providing value even when we can’t hang out in person.
I strongly encourage everyone to join the group and share what you’re working on, what you need help with, express your fears, whatever. This is an open community (whether you’re in Jersey City or not), and I feel that now more than ever it’s important for us to bond together and get through these trying times as a single unit, rather than individual parts.
I want to reiterate to everyone that these events are simply postponed, and will absolutely be happening still later in the year when we can create a safer environment for everyone to focus on innovative tech and togetherness, rather than worrying about our health. I’m confident these events will be even bigger and better than originally planned, so stay tuned for new dates!
I’d also like to offer up a piece of advice that has been helping me through this pandemic. Rather than looking at this uncertain period as time wasted, try taking a different approach and look at it with a new perspective.
Take it as an opportunity to step back from your everyday grind, and really evaluate what it is that you want out of life. I always hear people talking about how there’s “no time” to chase your dreams. Well, I’m here to tell you, now is the time. Don’t waste it – take advantage of this opportunity and create some f#%king magic.
